We can’t wait to introduce Fort Collins to wines from Winery at Versailles. The owners love for wine came all the way from Europe where they visited many of the hundreds of wineries in Germany when they were younger. From its inception in 1994 in Wilcox, PA, to the present-day facility in Versailles, Ohio, owners, Mike and Carol Williams have strived to do well, to do good, and to have some fun.
In 2002 they moved the winery just outside the beautiful village of Versailles, Ohio, and offer quality wine to appreciative wine neophytes and connoisseurs alike.
The winery offers over 30 different wines from dry Cabernets to fruity Catawbas, Port, dessert, sweet and sparkling wines. The semi-sweet 2018 Muscat Camellia is a luxuriant ros with a mouth-watering crisp, acidic finish. Flavors of papaya, mango, tangerine, and honey make this a great aperitif. The 2017Cabernet Franc has a hint of oak & subtle berry flavors which add to this wine's pleasant mouth-feel. With tannin smooth beyond its years, great body in the mid palate comes together for a nice finish. One of the wineries most popular wines, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, is a full-bodied European varietal which tastes of ripe blackberries, cassis and leather. Barrel fermented and aged in French oak for eleven months, it goes quite well with beef, rich red and brown sauces. If you’re looking for cherry, red fruit and herbaceous notes, look no further than the 2018 Chambourcin. It’s acidity creates a perfect pairing with a soft cheese like Brie or Camembert.
Winery at Versailles’ wines will leave you both surprised and delighted by their creativity and flavors!
